Why we're Giving Back this Friday

Black Friday, the holiday of hyper consumption, is completely at odds with the crisis we're living in, one that will have further reaching consequences.

  • This year's black Friday is expected to produce 429,000 metric tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions from product deliveries alone - that’s the same as 4335 return flights from London to New York. forbes
  • 80% of products brought in black friday sales end up in landfill, incinerated or sent straight to recycling each year  - source

This race to the bottom has to end and it’s not a system we want to be part of. We are part of a circular economic system - one where long-lasting repairable products are the norm and resources are maintained, reused or recycled back into high quality uses.  This is our model - we create long lasting products from recycled and low impact materials - so why would we be involved in hyper inflated black Friday sales.

So this black Friday we won’t be joining in - we're doing something different. We'll be rewarding our community with a little discount, but asking them if they would choose to give it back.

At checkout you'll be able to offer a part or whole of the money you've saved on our products to 3 amazing charities.

The Trussell Trust

In these difficult times sometimes charity starts at home. With the amount of UK households in working poverty rising the Trussell trust provided an incredible resource to those that need it. In September an emergency food bank parcel was handed out every 13 seconds, and the requests for assistance are only rising.  Find out more about their incredible work here

The Rainforest Alliance

Are an alliance of farmers, forest communities, companies, and consumers committed to creating a world where people and nature thrive in harmony. They are committed to protecting ancient and established rainforests.  Worldwide, forests suck up 2.4 billion metric tons of carbon each year, with the massive Amazon absorbing a quarter of that total. But with the devastation of the Amazon rainforest this is no longer the case. Help us protect it.
